We have some exciting news to share with you. Our game is taking a significant step forward with the opening of the long-awaited bridge to Binance Smart Chain. This new development will allow us to connect with a wider community and take our game to new heights.

As of now, the bridge can only transfer land and unit vouchers, but we’re working on enabling the transfer of airdropped items, comic pages, and comic cards, which will be available soon. During the migration process, some features such as airdrops, land upgrades, and the mini-game will be temporarily paused. We are asking for your patience, rest assured that we’re working hard to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce that our game has undergone a significant transformation and has a brand new title, SCAR QUEST: Battle for Velhalla! The decision to rename our game was not taken lightly. We had some excellent reasons for it:

First, our game was initially designed for Velas, but with the new bridge to Binance Smart Chain, we wanted to ensure that our name resonates with a wider audience.

Second, we understand that the name “Velhalla” has been continuously misspelled and mistaken for other games, causing confusion among players. With the new title, we aim to make our game stand out and be easy to find.

Third, we wanted a unique name that would not get mixed up with other games. SCAR QUEST: Battle for Velhalla! is distinctive and memorable, ensuring our game stands out from the rest.

Lastly, we believe that our game’s name should reflect the importance of our main token. By including the name of our token in the game’s title, we emphasize its significance in our ecosystem.

Get ready to embark on an epic journey, filled with adventure, battles, and glory. We cannot wait to see you on the battlefield of SCAR QUEST: Battle for Velhalla!

The game is getting closer and we are almost ready to go live. Before we can announce the first playable version, we have one VERY IMPORTANT and exciting thing to do. 

We have made the decision to move the default Velhalla game and planet to the Binance Smart Chain. This requires a lot of preparation such as deploying on BSC, testing game component compatibility, building an NFT bridge, as well as giving users sufficient time to move over their assets and be ready. 

The good news is we worked double time over the past 2 months and most of the technical work is already done.  We will be ready to begin the migration process March 15. We anticipate giving users about 4-6 weeks to migrate over and test everything, then we will announce a date for the first alpha release in May. Although a 2 month delay in development, we believe this was one of the most valuable updates for the project. If Velhalla decides to expand and bridge to other chains in the future the dev work is in place. 

Why move the default to BSC?

1. After speaking with many guilds and attending multiple web3 events it became clear Velhalla needs to be playable on a top 10 recognizable chain for easier onboarding and user confidence.

2. Pancake Swap and Stargate are one of the biggest dexes and bridges giving Velhalla direct exposure to the most traded stable coins making onboarding new users easy.

3. Binance Smart Chain is supported by the biggest DEXes and bridges with the most amount of liquidity allowing players to trade, swap, and stable with the least amount of slippage.

4. Bridging Velhalla NFTs to BSC allows players to trade directly on the biggest NFT marketplaces such as Opensea. Instead of juggling NFTs on 3 different chains we can consolidate everything onto one.

5. Making BSC the default home for Velhalla opens the doors to a massive audience of Binance communities.

6. BSC supports many useful apps such as Gnosis multisig wallet.

7. In addition many of our most active community and gold members have suggested and requested this.

We believe this decision will provide Velhalla the best chance for success and growth into the future.

1. As of March 1, 50% of the sell tax transactions on BSC will be automatically burned making SCAR a truly deflationary token. As Velhalla gains user adoption SCAR will become more scarce over time.

Time has gone so fast and we’re just a few steps closer to Velhalla’s full-game launch! Since October, the DEV team has shown us new features and improvements in DEV Update S11 with better Land Rewards (01:35-03:50), Character Skills (03:50-07:22), and Battle Progress (07:22-07:38). The team knows how much you love our rare NFTs, so we’ve added Campaign NFTs (10:55-14:17) such as Character Heroes and decoration Units that you can obtain through our Discord Task Force and Game Nights. The DEVs have also been working on System Design (14:17-14:23), Log-in Rewards (14:23-15:42), and 7 days log-in rewards (15:42-16:33). As well with the new Deploy Defense (16:33-18:46) and the upgraded Warehouse Feature (18:46-20:38) and Planet & Planet-building Feature (20:38-22:39). In terms of Art Production (22:39-22:58), the DEVs have been working on new ways to make the game more visually stunning. We’ve also improved the Deploy Defense Feature (22:58-24:25) and added Special Decoration (24:25-26:55) of 3D Draft & 3D Model. You can also see the improved art style of the game with Animation and Model Adjustments of the Character (26:55-30:14).

Another month past, and another month closer to Velhalla! The DEVs have been hard at work and have made some major progress on multiple aspects of the game in September. With this month’s update video, the DEVs show how they have added character skills VFX (1:08 – 3:51), optimized the battle animation (3:56 – 6:53), and increased the battle defensive skills (6:54 – 7:27). The DEVs also discuss the character unit movements (7:30 – 8:01) and unit development (8:05 – 8:23), how the battleground buildings will be utilized (8:27 – 10:02 ) and give you a special look at a full combat demo (10:04 – 14:19). 

Since its initial launch, the team behind Velhalla has been working to bring the community a metaverse experience unlike any other. Over the past 10 months, there have been numerous updates, giveaways, contests, releases, and major developmental progress as we move closer and closer to the launch of the full game this December. There has been a lot to follow, and a lot to keep up with, so why not do a bit of a recap to keep everyone up to speed. 

Cryptocurrency: one of the biggest buzzwords of the last decade. Most have either heard of it, know someone who has invested in it, or have joined the crypto space themselves. People from all around the world are now consistently talking about Bitcoin, Ethereum, NFTs, tokens, alt coins, and a whole list of associated crypto terms.  But…what exactly is crypto? What makes it different from a regular currency?  

Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that is fundamentally just like regular paper currency. Each bill has a serial number that corresponds to when and where it was printed. Each crypto coin also has a digital serial number that contains that same type of information:when it was made, where it was made, etc. With typical paper currency, a record of all bills is kept by the central bank and the government that shares information with other banks, including all info about your debit cards and bank accounts.

In the crypto world, the address number for a crypto wallet is similar to a bank account number. The main difference is that a crypto wallet is completely anonymous because your personal info is not linked to your wallet. Your crypto wallet is also completely under your control which means that no one can shut down your wallet or alter it unlike a regular bank account. Because you are the sole proprietor of your crypto wallet, this also means that maintaining access to your wallet is your responsibility. If you lose access to your wallet or forget your recovery phrase, you will lose the funds in your wallet forever. 

Instead of banks keeping track and monitoring transactions like a typical bank account, crypto info is stored across all the computers connected to the crypto network. This allows transactions to be viewed by anyone by using the blockchain explorer. This also means that no single person, institution, or power has complete control over the entire crypto network, making crypto like Bitcoin more secure because there is no single point of failure in the network. 

There are two types of crypto: coins and tokens. Although you may hear these two phrases being used synonymously, there are differences between what makes a crypto coin, and what makes a crypto token. Coins belong to networks that were built from the ground up, meaning that someone put together a secure code to create a safe and reliable currency. Crypto coins are typically rewarded to computer slash miners when they process a transaction, and these computers can earn crypto by processing transactions which incentivises other computers to join the network, creating a more secure coin. Only a few dozen cryptocurrencies are actually considered native coins due to the difficulty of creating a truly secure code for the currency.

Tokens on the other hand are much easier to create, and are the main type of crypto that are easily created and put into circulation. Tokens are dapps built on top of a blockchains that inherit the blockchains properties without having to build a new network from the ground up. There are currently tens of thousands of different tokens built on Ethereum alone, These include, defi coins, meme coins, and NFTs. 

Are cryptocurrencies safe?

Security can depend on the context of the currency. Not all cryptocurrencies are created equal. Some are created with speed as a priority instead of security, which typically does not play out well, because of the decentralized nature of crypto security should hold priority due to the constant threat of hackers. chains are made up of hundreds, sometimes thousands of computers that are spread out around the world that are constantly checking transactions and account balances. To corrupt a secure crypto network like Bitcoin for example, you would have to hack more than half of all the computers in the entire network at the same time,, which is near impossible. Even if someone is able to exploit a major currency, most cryptocurrency coins have publicly viewable transactions which makes them easy to track and trace by anyone even more so than a regular currency such as the dollar. 

Why are cryptocurrencies so volatile? What gives them value?

A currency like the dollar or the Euro’s value was originally based on the price of gold, but now, currency value is based on the trust we have in the governments that issue the currency. Crypto value is based on what that specific currency can do (its utility). Bitcoin’s value comes from the fact that it has an economic profile similar to gold and only a small amount is created every day and most importantly the FREEDOM and ease to send and receive to anyone anywhere without permission or a middle man. Many investors see Bitcoin (or cryptocurrency in general) as a safe place to put your capital outside of the current financial system. Most crypto is correlated to Bitcoin, meaning that their prices are reliant on what Bitcoin (BTC) does. Some cryptocurrencies have massive value due to the utility that they provide. Ethereum on the other hand is used as a platform to facilitate the creation of multiple other cryptocurrencies and Dapps (Decentralized Apps), sort of like the Decentralized internet.

Why do the prices fluctuate so much?

Simple answer…No one knows what the prices of these technologies are actually worth, meaning that; depending on the coin or token utility, along with a multitude of other factors including the state of the overall crypto market, causes the prices to be in constant flux. The same goes for regular currency and the price of gold, but for crypto, they are much more volatile because they are still relatively small in comparison however they are growing fast and due to their revolutionary potential will eventually take over. 

Cryptocurrencies make it possible for people to lend, save, and borrow funds without having to go through a bank or worry about a credit score. You can conduct business transactions directly with other people without a middle man company taking a percentage. This will disrupt big business models making them obsolete in the near future. Decentralized apps also make it possible for communities to transparently pool their funds together and digitally vote on how a project moves forward or spends its funds, which could potentially cut out the need for governments and politicians all together. 

Which crypto should I buy?

In the crypto space, you should never tell anyone exactly which cryptocurrencies to invest in or offer any financial advice, due to the fact that if anything were to go wrong, that person would hold you responsible which could end badly for everyone involved. Instead, the best advice to offer would be to think about your timeline and risk tolerance. In crypto, a typical bull run/bear run cycle falls within a 4 year span. Investing in a currency like Bitcoin and holding or hodling in most cases has proven to outperform those actively trading in the crypto market, but in any crypto endeavor, it is important to do your own research. Risk tolerance can come in varying degrees within the market. Typically, greater risk means more potential gain. Calculating the  market cap of a token or a coin by multiplying the current value of the token or coin by the circulating supply can give you a bit of an insight on where you may want to invest. The smaller the market cap, the more potential upside a crypto has in increasing its value regardless of its dollar value because it takes less money to increase that value. Keep in mind there are many factors that will determine a crypto’s success, these include the team, potential utility, marketing, narrative, and community sentiment. If there is one thing everyone should remember about the crypto space, it is “Crypto is Irrational, and currently the number 1 factor that drives up a coin’s value is pure speculation, so tread the sharky alt coin waters with extreme caution.

But, just like with most other new ideas, projects, or interests, researching and asking as many questions as you can are crucial. Semi-Fungible Tokens (SFTs) have just begun to break into the crypto space. By combining the features of fungible tokens (ERC-20) and non-fungible tokens (ERC-721), SFTs are a token with the capability of solving incompatibility issues between different standard tokens, and overcoming potential challenges of both fungible and non-fungible tokens. 

Where did SFTs come from?

First created by Enjin on the Ethereum Network, SFTs are meant to be a more efficient way to manage fungible and non-fungible tokens by using a single smart contract. SFTs are currently being utilized in blockchain-based video games (GameFi) as multifunctional tokens that allow game creators to offer in-game items with the functionalities of both fungible and non-fungible tokens. 

While most non-fungible tokens are built on the ERC-721 standard, semi-fungible tokens utilize the ERC-1155 standard. Because of how SFTs are built, this makes it easy for game players to trade fungible in-game items for NFTs and vice versa.

What’s the benefit of an SFT?

Semi-fungible tokens are built on smart contracts that allow transfer mistakes, which means that token transactions to the wrong addresses are reversible and the sender has the ability to get back their tokens if a mistake occurs.

The critical limitation of fungible tokens is their irreversible transactions. If you send coins to an incorrect address, you lose them forever. There is no possibility to get your funds back without the good will of the wallet owner. Contrary to NFTs, semi-fungible tokens also support batch transfers. You can transfer multiple SFTs in a single transaction which leads to lower network congestion, lower gas fees, and lower costs.

The ability to use a single smart contract for fungible and non-fungible assets can have a considerable impact on the crypto and NFT markets in the future. One of the most beneficial features about SFTs is that they have the characteristics of both fungible and non-fungible tokens. In the life cycle of a semi-fungible token, they are initially fungible and can be traded with other identical SFTs. When a holder redeems these SFTs, they become non-fungible, which makes them   indivisible, verifiable, and indestructible.  When they are fungible, they become highly liquid and can be exchanged easily with anyone.

Enjin has managed to create what could be the next major step in the development of NFTs: a fungible and non-fungible token using a single smart contract. As of now, most SFTs are being used in metaverse games for in-game assets, but with the multiple possibilities that SFTs have to offer the crypto world, who knows how far this newcomer could go in the future of the NFT space.

Knowing the lingo when diving into a new interest can greatly increase your understanding of a topic. In the crypto space, there is a plethora of words, phrases, abbreviations, and various verbiage that some people may find daunting when they first jump into the world of NFTs and crypto. But, even with a basic understanding of just a few key words and phrases, you can easily begin to navigate the crypto and NFT space.

Blockchain

A blockchain is a shared, immutable ledger that facilitates the process of recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network. An asset can be tangible (a house, car, cash, land) or intangible (intellectual property, patents, copyrights, branding). The goal of blockchain technology is to allow digital information to be recorded and distributed, but not edited. In this way, a blockchain is the foundation for immutable ledgers, or records of transactions that cannot be altered, deleted, or destroyed. Virtually anything of value can be tracked and traded on a blockchain network, which can reduce risk and cut costs for all involved. Blockchain technology was first outlined In 1991 by Stuart Haber and W. Scott Stornetta, two mathematicians who wanted to implement a more secure online system where document timestamps could not be tampered with. 

NFT (Non-Fingable Token)

NFT means non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are generally created using the same type of programming used for cryptocurrencies. An NFT can be a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos.  “Tokenizing” these real-world tangible assets makes buying, selling, and trading them more efficient while reducing the probability of fraud. They are typically bought and sold online, frequently with a form of  cryptocurrency or crypto token, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos. In simple terms these cryptographic assets are based on blockchain technology.  Physical currency and cryptocurrency are fungible, which means that they can be traded or exchanged for one another. The term NFT means that it can neither be replaced nor interchanged because it has unique properties.

Altcoin

Altcoins are generally defined as all cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. However, some people consider altcoins to be all cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) because most cryptocurrencies are forked from one of the two. Some altcoins use different consensus mechanisms to validate transactions and open new blocks, or attempt to distinguish themselves from Bitcoin and Ethereum by providing new or additional capabilities or purposes. Most altcoins are designed and released by developers who have a different vision or use for their tokens or cryptocurrency.

GameFi

GameFi — a portmanteau of “game” and “finance” — involves blockchain games that offer economic incentives to play them, otherwise known as play-to-earn games. Typically, players can earn in-game rewards by completing tasks, battling other players or progressing through various game levels.  For those unfamiliar with gaming, let us put it this way: GameFi is to the legacy gaming industry, what DeFi is to traditional finance. Essentially, GameFi aims to revolutionize the traditional gaming infrastructure by combining and integrating blockchain technology and decentralized finance.

Mining vs. minting

Mining is the process of recording and verifying transactions on a public digital record of transactions, known as a blockchain under a proof-of-work protocol. In order to do that, miners solve complex mathematical problems and in return, there is the possibility they will be rewarded with a certain amount of cryptocurrency for their efforts. 

Minting is the process of validating information, creating a new block, and recording that information into the blockchain through a proof-of-stake protocol. Under the Proof-of-Stake mechanism, coins are not minted through mining, but rather through staking. Proof-of-Stake does not have miners, it has validators and it does not let people mine new blocks, but instead lets people mint or forge new blocks. 

DeFi (Decentralized Finance) 

DeFi — short for decentralized finance — is a new vision of banking and financial services that is based on peer-to-peer payments through blockchain technology.With blockchain technology, DeFi allows “trust-less” banking, sidestepping traditional financial middlemen such as banks or brokers. DeFi is based on secure distributed ledgers similar to those used by cryptocurrencies. The system removes the control banks and institutions have on money, financial products, and financial services. With DeFi, fees that banks and other financial companies charge for using their services are eliminated and you have control over your money by holding it in a secure digital wallet instead of keeping it in a bank. Anyone with an internet connection can use DeFi without needing approval from a financial institution. 

DApps (Decentralized Applications)

Decentralized applications or dApps, often built on the Ethereum platform, are similar to traditional software programs, but instead of running on a typical software server, they run on blockchain networks. Because dApps are decentralized, they are free from the control and interference of a single authority. Benefits of dApps include the safeguarding of user privacy, the lack of censorship, and the flexibility and freedom of development.

Bull market

The term “bull market” is most often used to refer to the stock market but can be applied to anything that is traded, such as bonds, real estate, currencies, and commodities. Because prices of securities rise and fall essentially continuously during trading, the term “bull market” is typically reserved for extended periods in which a large portion of security prices are rising. Bull markets tend to last for months or even years.

Bear market

A bear market occurs when a market experiences prolonged price declines. Factors such as a weak or slowing economy or shocks like pandemics or war can all contribute to a bear market. 

FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)

FOMO is the acronym for “Fear Of Missing Out.” In the context of financial markets and trading, FOMO refers to the fear that a trader, holder, or investor feels when they think that they may be missing out on a potentially lucrative investment or trading opportunity when the price of a token increases. The FOMO feeling is particularly prevalent when the price of a token rises in value significantly over a relatively short time. The concept was first described in 2000 by Dr. Dan Herman in an academic paper entitled “The Journal of Brand Management.” However, the acronym FOMO was coined a couple of years later by Patrick McGinnis in an opinion piece published in 2004 in the American magazine “The Harbus.” 

The crypto and NFT space is a vast online world that can seem confusing and at times a difficult place to navigate for most. With all of the acronyms, crypto slang, and metaverse jargon there is to learn in crypto, there is always some new phrase or word to learn, and by no means is this an exhaustive list of crypto lingo. But, it can definitely be a start for those who are looking to get started in the crypto space and might need a cheat sheet.

August has come and gone, and the Velhalla DEVs have released another exciting development update. In this video, the DEVs give us an update on the current status of the ongoing land exchange system and how to participate (1:01 – 3:37).

With the land exchange system, there are limited quantities of each combination including 2×2, 4×4, 8×8, 16×16, and 32×32, so exchange while you still can! In this update, you will also get a detailed look into the combat and battle gameplay design and how the A.I. functions in the game will interact with players along with a battle preview (3:37 – 14:46). For the in-game building upgrade, a level up function that will allow players to upgrade their buildings to a higher level is in the works (14:46 – 17:30).

For the month of August, the DEVs have made some major progress with the art production of the game including designs for the upcoming PFP NFT avatars. Armor, hair styles, weapons, facial features, tattoos, and more are all in production for the one of a kind NFTs that players will be able to collect. Each NFT will be randomly generated with different levels of rarity and value. Building and land customizations are also in the works which will allow players to increase their ranking by collecting different land features(17:30 – 30:34).
